1961 Fender Precision Bass Ash Slab

  

For sale : Original 1961 Fender Precision Bass. I bought this Bass from the original owner many years ago He bought the Bass new from a shop in Leeds and gigged with it for several years in the Yorkshire area.

The Bass was originally finished in Blonde, however the owner stripped the bass of it's original finish in the early 1970's. This Bass is 100% original with the exception of its finish to both the Body, the Neck, the Decal / Fender logo and one short wire change (see below). Everything works as it should and the original frets show hardly any wear. The Truss rod is flush with the Neck when under tension, The original pickups with original wingdings sound brilliant. The body is made of lightweight Ash, which was only used by Fender on Bass's finished in Blonde during 1961. The original Blonde is still in the caverties and the Neck Pocket. The figuring in the Ash is truly stunning. The Neck has the coveted Brazilian Rosewood slab finger Board with clay dots. It has a pencil dated : 4 - 61. All of these specifications make this gorgeous looking Bass even more desirable. I'v owned this Bass for about 12 years and it's a brilliant sounding and playing Bass, The action is very low and is exceptionally light weight. The two pots are dated : 60 (1960) 19 (19th week of) and : 60 (1960) 47 (47th week of). The only minor component change is one lead which links the 2 pickups. I also have an original 1961 Fender Bass Case in my other listing although it is not original to this Bass. This Bass originally had a Selmer Case with it. The Bass weighs 3.7 kg's / 8.2 lbs. This is a brilliant example of this Iconic Leo Fender made Bass!!
