1966 Silvertone 1443 Vintage Electric Bass Guitar Full Scale, Danelectro USA

  
Up for sale, a 1966 Silvertone 1443 bass in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Only produced from 1966-68, this Silvertone was one of the last models manufactured in the USA by Danelectro.

Lightweight and featuring a full 33 scale, this bass has a rich, thumpy tone with plenty of girth and midrange pluck. We've had this bass setup with roundwound strings and dialed in for comfortable action. The maple neck has a nicely rounded full C shaped profile with plenty of shoulder and consistent depth as you travel up the fretboard, measuring.

852 deep at both the 1st and 12th frets. The notably thick slab Brazilian rosewood fretboard retains the original medium jumbo fretwire which is in remarkable shape, showing sparingly little wear with well rounded crowns and offering easy playability in all registers.

The stock aluminum nut is also intact and measures a full 1 3/4 in width. On the headstock, the original tuners turn smoothly and work surprisingly well, and these larger gears are a notable upgrade over what Danelectro used on their lower-tier Silvertone models. The original "Silvertone" raised logo is fully intact too with a chrome sheen, and a Fender-style string tree has also been added to provide the optimal break angle for the E and A strings behind the nut.

The stock aluminum knobs, chrome bridge cover and Brazilian rosewood finger rest are all intact, along with the original bridge and nitrate tortoise pickguard. All body routes are untouched and wiring is original with CTS pots which date to the 46th week of'65, placing this 1443 very early in the first year of production. In terms of cosmetic wear, this bass has been lovingly played and well cared for, especially given the much thinner nitro lacquer finishes seen on Danelectro instruments. The Red Sunburst finish is very vibrant, with some assorted small finish chips around the edges of body along with a few minor finish scuffs and nicks. This USA-made Danelectro bass is a complete vintage example marketed by Sears under their "Silvertone" brand.
