Up for sale, a 1967 Fender Jazz Bass, professionally maintained and boasting over a half century of honest use. As drool-worthy as natural playwear gets, this Jazz Bass is the definition of "worn in, " with a dynamic response and rich nuanced tone befitting an instrument that's been played consistently and grown more resonant and responsive over time. Weighing 9lbs and very well-balanced on a strap, this Fender delivers a tonal breadth and low frequency heft not often afforded the Jazz Bass model. Dialing in the ideal balance between the pickups is the true magic of this bass, with a tone that has a distinct upper-midrange articulation and burp, with a present treble snap and a commanding kick when you dig in.

Back the tone control off a touch, or roll it all the way down for everything from brighter textures to pure, mellow fullness. This bass has been professionally setup here at Mike and Mikes Guitar Bar with low action and 45-100 roundwound strings. The maple neck has a slim C shaped profile carve with modest shoulder and gentle taper, measuring.

810 deep at the first fret and. The original gloss nitro lacquer on the profile has been worn down to the smooth, bare maple for a particularly silky feel, and the rosewood fretboard is free from wear with bright white pearl block inlays. The neck binding has been replaced from frets 1-3 on the bass side and 1-4 on the treble side, and the bass has been refretted with medium jumbo wire.

The frets have ample meat and height, with perfectly rounded crowns, paired with a new hand-carved 1 1/2 wide bone nut for optimal clarity. The original set of chrome-plated "Lollipop" tuning machines are present, turning smoothly and holding pitch as they should.

The Jazz Bass waterslide decal is also present with tight horizontal lacquer checking on the face of the headstock. On the body, all of the electronics work as they should and the harness features a trio of CTS pots with matching dates from the 42nd week of 1966. The original nitrate tortoise pickguard sits flat and has a bold reddish hue with the dimensional swirls and specks of yellow more often associated with an earlier Pre-CBS guard. Beneath the guard, the "tan line" reveals the unfaded three-tone shading of the burst and the only red in the Sunburst left on the face of the instrument.

As the significant playwear on the body is both compelling and evident, we won't catalog every ding and battle scar here, but of note is the wear into the alder between the pickups beyond the bass-side edge of the guard, and o. Ne square spot of black on the back treble-side lower bout edge on top of the finish, likely from contact with a strap. The nitro lacquer finish is 100% original with no touchup or overspray, and while the back retains some of the red central ring of the Sunburst, the top has gracefully aged to a decidedly two-tone appearance.
