1978 Fender Precision Bass Vintage Electric Bass Guitar Natural with Case

  

Up for sale, a 1978 Fender Precision Bass in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. Produced at the Fullerton factory in the last few years of the original USA-made production run, this late CBS-era Fender features a solid ash body with a Natural finish, paired with a one-piece maple neck and dark, tight-grained rosewood fretboard. Surprisingly lightweight and lively at 9lbs 2oz, the bass is strung with fresh 45-100 roundwound strings, offering both broad thump and ideal articulation. The neck has a substantial and chunky C shaped profile with lightly rolled fretboard edges and gentle taper as you travel up the fretboard, measuring.

915 deep at the 1st fret and 1.020 at the 12th. Riginal frets are intact, shy of medium jumbo yet with ample meat and height, showing just a touch of uniform wear on the crowns of frets 1-6 and virtually no wear further up the fretboard. The original nut measures 1 5/8 in width, the perfect middle ground for players that want a neck that's easy to navigate yet still has a bit of width and substance. The headstock sports original Fender branded tuners, and while the S8 prefix serial number has been scratched on the headstock, the matching serial on the underside of the pickguard (a practice on all late'70s Fenders) is still fully intact, along with the factory ink stamp on the neck heel. Modern Fender chrome ashtray covers have been fitted, and the original knurled metal knobs, tuners, and bridge are all surprisingly clean with bright chrome plating.

The original three-ply black pickguard is intact, with a small serial number sticker on the back. The original Natural gloss finish shows minimal ambering of the clear coat, highlighting the broad arching grain of the ash. There's some expected pick scuffing across the guard, l. Ight buckle rash on the back, and a few additional minor dings on the body as a whole.

Eck profile is smooth and glossy, free of palm wear. The original black tolex hardshell case is included. The case features clean black leather ends, a trio of original, functional latches, the stock handle, and raised Fender logo on the exterior.
