Up for sale, a 1989 Fender American Vintage'62 reissue stack knob Jazz Bass in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original tweed hardshell case, hangtags, and set of ashtray covers and original string mutes. Crafted at the Corona, CA factory, this Jazz Bass is a faithful reissue of the most collectable and desirable Jazz Basses of the early 1960s, complete with the "stack knob" control configuration, a custom color Olympic White nitro lacquer finish over an alder body, and a one-piece maple neck with slab rosewood fretboard. With its own dedicated Tone control, it's easy to dial in a range of tones that get broader and fatter as you roll down the knob, retaining clarity and upper midrange presence and burp.

Weighing 9lbs 5oz, the bass sustains well and has a strong acoustic resonance, currently strung with 45-100 roundwound strings and professionally dialed in here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar. The maple neck has a medium C profile carve with. And lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring.

850 deep at the 1st fret and filling out to. The slab rosewood fretboard is a particularly dark cut which retains the original slender fretwire with its full factory height and perfectly rounded crowns, showing virtually no wear.

The traditional 1 1/2" nut width makes navigating the full 34" scale a breeze, and the fretboard has a vintage-correct 7 1/4 radius. On the headstock, the original reverse-geared long stem clover-button tuning machines turn smoothly and hold pitch well.

The original Jazz Bass waterslide decal is fully intact, and the neck heel has the clean, original stamp from April 12th, 1989, with the requisite factory stamps and dates in the neck pocket as well. The original electronics are intact and the wiring is stock, with untouched solder joints and CTS pots that date back to 1982. The pot date is notable, as Fender's original batch of Jazz Bass stack knob pots was known to have lasted through the first half of 1989. All of the original hardware is present and clean, and the original plastic parts include a modern Fender dark red tortoise pickguard and corresponding finger rest, the only new components on an otherwise 100% original bass. The custom color Olympic White gloss nitro lacquer finish is completely unfaded, with no "tan line" between the exposed finish and that which has been protected under the guard for 30+ years.

Bit of scuffing on the back lower bout edge and a few ancillary light finish scratches and nicks on the body as a whole, mostly relegated to the back. The V-prefix four-bolt neck plate has one finish chip adjacent to the plate and a spot of isolated light vertical lacquer checking. The neck profile has a flawless silky smooth ambered gloss, with light figuring along its length. The original tweed hardshell case is included, along with the original hangtag, factory paperwork, and individual string mutes (never installed).
