Ernie Ball 1997 Musicman Sterling 4H Bass in vintage blue pearl in Excellent condition. On the 27th of June 1997.

Nut width 38.1mm (1.5). Controls:Master volume, Treble, Mid, Bass. Music Man standard bridge with stainless steel saddles.

The Sterling 4H was originally made by Ernie Ball and based around the legendary Stingray bass. Legend has it that it was made for his son, Sterling (hence the name) and was designed to be lighter and with a narrower neck (more like a Fender Jazz) to suit his young son. As the Ernie Ball website says. Renowned for its slightly smaller body and neck profile, the Sterling 4 string bass boasts a big sound.

The Sterling delivers comfort, functionality, and the precision craftsmanship and attention to detail youve come to expect from Ernie Ball Music Man. This particular bass has been well cared for, and has not been gigged much as most of my work is on double bass. The bass is well set up and is in tune at the 12th fret. The strings are new DR High beams and it is ready to play.

There have been two modifications, the first is the installation of a Hipshot Extender Key. This allows you to drop the tuning of the E string to a D by flicking a lever.

I have found this really useful and the extender is very high quality, but the original tuner will be included in the sale should you wish to return the bass to it's original configuration. The second is the addition of some Shaller S-Lock strap buttons to prevent the strap from accidentally coming loose. The original set of strap buttons will also be included in the sale. As the bass is 23 years old there are some of signs of wear.

On the back of the bass there is a very small mark that you can see on the 11th picture. There are also a couple of scuff marks on the end of the headstock which you can see on the 10th photo. There are also a couple of faint marks on the pick guard which can be seen best on the first photo. A hard case is also included in the sale. The bass has been packed into a hard case as of the 30th of December and will not be opened so will be covid safe upon receipt.
