Japanese Fender Jaguar "Deluxe" series Bass in Black. Superb condition for age and complete with Hiscox Hard Case. This is a beautiful Fender Jaguar Deluxe as crafted in Japan. I bought this bass a couple of years ago from the Bass Centre in Warwickshire. I have only ever used it at home and according to the Bass centre it was only one owner before who, again, never gigged it (which i can believe due to the condition).Having used it for a while I noticed that there seemed to be a small amount of electrical "clicking" and "buzzing" which sounded like a bad earth, so in March I took it to a local Guitar Tech (with 50+ years of experience - message me if you want his details, while not the cheapest, he always does a great job) who confirmed it was the copper shielding that was the problem, so he replaced all of it and added a little extra to be sure it will be fine for years to come. At the same time he did a complete set-up, double checking all the electrics, neck, frets, intonation etc which now means it plays superbly.
It is a great Bass to play with a lovely slim, fast Jazz neck and an amazing amount of tonal adjustment available, and while looking very complicated because of the amount switches and dials, is actually quite easy when you get to know it. Basically, you have three sections of controls. Firstly you have the two rotary controls as with a passive Jazz (main volume and passive tonal adjustment). Just below the pick guard there are 3 switches, the first two of which switch the pick-ups on/off independently, with the third which allows you to run them in parallel or in series (just affects the sound slightly, no hard and fast rules, just experiment and see what you prefer for the job in hand).
Just above the pick guard there is a switch for the active circuit (active/passive) and then 2 dials for active tone adjustment bass+/- and treble +/. All-in-all there is just so much you can do with this bass and it's great fun.I would say that it would definitely suit most genres. As for condition; as i said before it is virtually unmarked with just very, very light surface marks, as you will see from the photos, the deepest if which has just gone through the laquer and which i have tried to show (see photo 9, it is between the 5p piece and the reflection of the light). The case is a fully plush lined Hiscox case which, again, is in very good condition for its age, but sorry no key (never came with one when i bought it). These basses are super-cool looking, getting rarer and will certainly make someone a great investment which is also great fun to play. Ideally I would prefer local pick-up but will post if required.
