Stunning ultra-rare vintage Antoria Snow Eagle bass. 1978 Great condition

  

For sale : stunning, ultra rare 1978 vintage Antoria Snow Eagle bass. This is effectively the Antoria-badged white version of the Ibanez Black Eagle. Both brands emanated from the same factory in Japan in the 1970s.

There are Antoria Black Eagles, but no Ibanez Snow Eagles, to my knowledge. These are the Holy Grail for vintage Ibanez collectors as they made so few of them : there are rumours of there only being a handful in existence.

They never even made it to the catalog! If you look to online forums, you'll read fans talking of them in hushed mythological tones, usually reserved for Yetis and the Loch Ness Monster. They never come up for sale. Well here's proof that they do exist and this one can be yours! As production details are really hazy, I would place it somewhere between 1976 and'78, but please advise if you know better.

Revision : I've since been informed that it's a 1978 model - many thanks firebird-II! The headstock is completely intact (unusual for these basses, as the gorgeous, but delicate cutout makes them very vulnerable to accidental damage) with original paint.

I have a feeling the body has been re-finished at some point, though I can't be certain, as it's been done to a very high, professional standard with a lovely vintage'off-white' creamy hue. I've replaced the bridge with a Babicz full-contact one, for improved performance, but it uses the same screw holes as the original, so can be reversed in minutes. There are some minor scrapes and dings from use (see pics), but nothing that detracts from what is a very clean instrument indeed.

I last used this bass professionally, on a European tour in 2015, alternating with my Black Eagle, so it's a beautifully playable, serious instrument, not just a museum-piece. There's a lifetime of use left in the frets and no functionality issues. There is no case, but it will be lovingly and fastidiously packed for transit.
