Vintage Hofner 500/5 Blonde Bass Guitar

  

Hofner 500/5 Electric Bass (circa 1960/1) Serial Number 1051- Blonde Model. (The guitar is known as the "Stu Sutcliffe" bass as he played a 500/5 with The Beatles in Hamburg - his was the Brunette version). A beautiful instrument in excellent condition for age.

No noticeable dings, scratches or other damage. With original hard case (a bit battered and repaired but useable). The original Hofner pickups were rewound about 8 years ago and wired as before to the original somewhat quirky switch panel. I have owned this guitar since the early 1960s and played it for much of that decade.

Since then it has been lovingly stored over the years with the occasional outing for maintenance or playing. A reluctant sale but the time has come! I do not want to pack and despatch it.

NB This guitar has been on a reduced asking price during the Pandemic. However, the price will revert to a higher asking price from 1st December 2020.
