1962 Hofner Senator 500/3 Bass
1962 Hofner Senator 500/3 Bass. Stunning flame, gorgeous finish and in excellent working order.
German made Hofner bass from April 1962. Low action and the neck joint is solid.
When I got this bass it had non original modern schaller tuners. Fitting the tuners had damaged the finish on the headstock faceplate. To overcome this an inappropriate brass faceplate was installed I have included this in the case! The non original tuners were removed and all the holes filled. An new veneer faceplate has been installed and a new Hofner decal. The headstock faceplate has been refinished in nitrocellulose lacquer. Replacement German Vintage style Hofner tuners have been installed. The pots have been replaced with CTS Pots and input jack and everything has been re-wired with vintage cloth wiring.It now all works perfectly and should continue to do so for another 60 years. The Hofner guitar style bridge has been replaced with a new german made Hofner bass bridge. Re-strung with LaBella Deep Talkin Bass Flats. All of this now rests comfortably in a new Hofner H64/10 case.
