Up for sale, a 1980's Fernandes The Function BXB vintage electric bass guitar in 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Made in Japan, this Fernandes screams "1980s" with elements borrowed from the angular Explorer design.

Wicked-looking, and just plain fun, The Function bass features a maple neck and alder body loaded with the stock pair of Fernandes DF-B humbuckers. These high output pickups channel an aggressive, biting bass sound with plenty of focused low end and midrange content. The bass weighs only 7lbs 11oz and has been professionally setup here at Mike and Mikes Guitar Bar with roundwound 45-100 strings and low action. The maple neck has a slender C shaped profile with slight shoulders, measuring.

Just a touch of uniform wear is present on the crowns of frets 1-4, with virtually no further wear up the fretboard. The scale length measures 32 3/4, and the nut is 1 9/16 wide. The headstock features the Fernandes logo, a round string tree, and set of chrome tuners that turn smoothly and hold their pitch well. On the body, the simple stock electronics work as they should, with a single Volume knob and Tone knob for the pair of DF-B humbuckers, governed by a three-way selector switch. The chrome hardware has faint patina and the original pair of black speed knobs are intact.

Cosmetically, gloss black finish has seen its fair share of use, with marks, scratches, and dings throughout the body and buckle rash on the back. A finish chip is also present at the rear tip of the treble side shoulder. In contrast the neck profile is fairly clean, with a light array of marks mostly along the treble side of the profile, and nothing distracting to the palm.
