Up for sale, a 1995 Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay 4 H in 100% original condition and in perfect working order with a rich, saturated Sunburst gloss finish over the ash body. The flagship of the Music Man line, this 1990s iteration of the StingRay is largely the same as it was upon its introduction in the late'70s, featuring roadworthy construction, a massive hardened steel bridge, elegant oval pickguard, 3+1 tuning key configuration, and the ever popular Music Man humbucker. Governed by an active 3-band EQ, the alnico humbucker offers punchy growl and thick, round thump. The tone wood combination of a solid ash body and slab rosewood fretboard provides ample warmth and articulation, with the note attack and midrange detail inherent in ash. The bass is surprisingly lightweight for a StingRay at 9lbs 8oz and has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 45-105 roundwound strings, comfortable action, and spot-on intonation.
The maple neck has lightly rolled fretboard edges on the particularly thick rosewood slab and an inviting C shape with just enough shoulder and a smooth, satin finish on the entire profile, highlighting the prominent birdseye figuring. 830 deep at the 1st fret, tapering to. And with its six-bolt attachment, this neck delivers stability that easily surpasses most set necks.
The slab rosewood fretboard has a 11 radius and medium jumbo fretwire which has ample meat, recently leveled and crowned and currently showing zero wear. The nut measures 1 5/8 in width, and the headstock retains the original chrome tuning machines which have light surface patina on the clover buttons. The neck pocket retains its original date stamp from Jan 9th, 1995, while the heel itself is hand-dated Feb 23rd, 1995. All of the electronics work as intended, with a Master Volume knob in addition to the 3-band active EQ circuit. The active circuitry is untouched, with original CTS pots which date to the 29th week of'94. The chrome hardware has plenty of shine, with a clean control plate, knurled knobs and neck plate, and some pitting adjacent to the saddles on the bridge base.
The three-tone Sunburst gloss is particularly dark, exhibiting a. Few finish chips around the body edges and extending to the bass side waist on top, with one battle scar of note just south of the control plate on the treble side edge. There is pick scuffing across the guard, a s. Liver of forearm wear, and some scattered shallow nicks and modest signs of use on the body as a whole.
The neck profile is free of wear, save for a small nick central to the profile behind the 5th fret. A hardshell case is included. Check out our shop "Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, " and please let us know if we can answer any questions!
