Color: Transparent Red (refinished semi-professionally). Modifications: The Nut has been changed and the bass was previously fretless. The bass has been refinished. The finish looks great from a few feet away but up close under good light you can see inconsistencies in certain spots that suggests it was done by a semi-professional.
There also looks to be some clear overspray on the fretboard but this isn't able to be felt. If you have questions about the finish (or any other questions about the instrument) please feel free to message us. Case/Extras: Non-original gig bag included. The case looks great and fits well.
Cosmetic Condition: Good condition with some dings and marks at the top of the headstock and in some other spots. As mentioned previously, this bass has been refinished and there are some inconsistencies in the finish.Operational Condition: Fully-functioning including all electronics, truss rod, etc. This bass plays very well with low action and it sounds absolutely incredible. The Ampeg AEB-1 is one of the most beautiful electric bass designs ever and this one has a sound to match it's great looks.
Round and fat and toneful and most importantly not just like your P-bass. It has a different tonal vibe for sure while still being able to cover a lot of the same ground as a Precision.
This is an absolute killer bass and due to a poor decision by the past owner to refinish it, it is now reasonably priced and ready to become some players main axe! The item "Ampeg AEB-1 vintage 1967 electric bass guitar" is in sale since Thursday, March 5, 2020.
