From the jangle of the Byrds to the deep thumping psychedelia of Jefferson Airplane, the Starfire Bass underpins an indispensable sound of the 60s. This mahogany-bodied bass weighs in at a comfortable 7lbs 14oz and has been professionally setup with 45-100 roundwound strings and comfortable action. The three-piece mahogany/maple/mahogany neck has a vintage soft U shape, gloss poly finish, 1 1/2 wide bone nut, and a slab Indian rosewood fretboard. The tapered shoulders of the profile meet a stark yet lightly rolled fretboard edge, feeling smooth and comfortable in the palm, and the profile depth measures. 850 at the 1st fret and. Stock narrow jumbo frets show zero wear, and the fretboard has a notably flat 12 radius. The headstock displays a mother of pearl Guild logo and crown, with a set of Grover 142-series vintage-style tuners. Wound to 6.4K ohms, similar in specification to a Hammon Darkstar, the Guild BS-1 provides a refined modern tone in a classic package. Aside from the treble side finger rest, all of the hardware is intact, including the black plastic control knobs with Guild "G" caps and the adjustable bridge with rosewood saddles. Three-ply binding frames the rich and vibrant transparent Cherry Red finish, highlighting the grain pattern in the arched laminate mahogany. Cosmetically this bass is in top notch condition, with a single small finish chip on the top of the headstock, and some very minor shallow scuffs mostly relegated to the back of the body. The neck profile is clean as can be, with no signs of play wear. The original hardshell case is included.
