Peavey T-40 4-string electric bass. Has been well used but still in good, almost original condition. Made in the 70's (1979)This has been my workhorse for many years and has earned many times it's own value in paid gigs. The rest of the band used my T-40 as a reference for tuning because it stayed in tune so well. A very versatile bass with a huge range of tones.

Back off the pots and the pickups change from hum-bucker to single coil. In two-pick-up mode you can switch the P-ups to out of phase for extra tones. This guitar has had a custom "kill switch" fitted at some time (pre 1987). It cuts the output from the bass. Don't know why it was fitted but it's handy at intervals in gigs to mute the bass and return to the same tone settings in the second set.

I kept it because it's part of this old instrument's history. Easy to remove if you wish, but I liked it. In good condition for its age it does have several blemishes. The back is worn in places from belt buckles, some dings on the neck. The body is a pretty hard type of wood, swamp ash I think (you can look all this stuff up). Serial number: 00363820 which makes it a 1979 model, so an early model. It has just been set up and re-strung by a professional luthier. A faulty pick-up selector toggle switch was replaced and switchgear now all works as it should. Intonation set, pots tightened up and checked and a slight truss rod tweak. Action is set low for me, you might wish to set it it higher (easy to do). Neck looks good, flat and straight. Some worn frets in the 3rd - 5th fret area. With a timber/plywood hard case with plush lining (not sure if it's the original case or not but I've seen others in the same case).

This is a working instrument, not a show pony. This is a classic beast of bass which will go up in value because they ain't making things like this any more.

Lots of positive reviews and demos on-line showing amazing range of tones from this machine.
