Vintage 1972 Fender jazz bass guitar

  
Stunning 50 year old 1972 Fender Jazz Bass finished in natural colour. Dating to 1972 this would be one of the last of the original 4 bolt neck Jazz Basses before Fender switched to the 3 bolt design in late 1973. As expected due to its age, the top of the neck has picked up a few minor knocks and scrapes associated with general use and gigging with the main body of the guitar showing very little wear. The Maple neck has the black binding and pearl block inlays as Fender used on early'70s Maple boards and the'Skunk Stripe' with the truss rod screw at the body end of the neck predating the change to the'Bullet' adjuster and 3-bolt design the following year. There is negligible fret wear and the back of the neck is smooth with no dings and everything works as it should. Also as is correct for this era, the Fender Jazz Bass Decal is under the lacquer.

The Alder body has 2x single coil pickups which sound great. The hardware consists of Fender branded Cloverleaf tuners and white 3-ply scratch plate with the finger rest in the pre'74 lower position. The Fender bridge has the barrel saddles with long intonation screws. Appears to be original with the exception of a quality replacement brass nut at some stage over it's long life.

I have not unbolted the neck or checked the dates on the pots as this can be done, if required, before the final sale. This Bass balances well and weighs a more than acceptable 10 lbs.
