Vintage 1980's Westone Thunder 1 Matsumoku Japan MIJ P Bass

  
1980's Westone Thunder 1A - made in Matsukomu Japan. Great sounding PBass, very well made. It has been modified to with an active circuit, so it can work both as Active or Passive bass.

Things are a bit tight in the cavity when you put a battery in, so I've just used it in passive mode. It has a very good PBass tone to it.

In Active mode it sounds like a PBass on sterhoids, the bottom black knob is the active circuit EQ. The 2 Brass Knobs are the standard Volume and Tone controls. The neck has some mass to it. It plays well as it is with medium action. The body is made of Ash, with a Maple & Walnut center block. 3 piece neck properly made with the center piece grain reversed. Brass Bridge, Knobs and Nut. Electronics all work as they should.
